Excessive thinking
Excessive thinking will not help you deal with things that are beyond your control. So don't constantly try to control what's going on and enjoy every moment of your life.
If you constantly over-analyze what is happening, then stop this behavior and so you will feel liberated.
Excessive thinking is a habit that involves over-analyzing anything. hyper analysis is also known as "paralysis analysis" because when one thinks so much one is stuck in one's thoughts and prevents oneself from taking action.
Healthy thinking opens the mind and helps us to mature and evolve. But too much thinking shifts the balance between weakness and helplessness, so our minds are not open to accepting new positive choices.
Excessive thinking is all around us. Studies have shown that excessive thinking prevails in young people (25-35 years old) and middle-aged people (45-55 years old). Also, hyper analysis is more common in women. But so much thought can lead to mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, emotional stress, and self-destructive behaviors.
Typical behaviors of a person who thinks too much
- Thoughts run through your mind, you judge and analyze what you said and did yesterday, you are terrified at the thought that you are ugly, and you think that a terrible future awaits you
- Question your decisions, think that you may have made the wrong decision, or that you are constantly procrastinating.
- Analyze what your friends or colleagues are saying or doing.
- You find it difficult to decide what to post on social media, and you worry that others will post something better than you or that you will get fewer likes.
- You read a text over and over again to understand the real meaning behind the message.
- The "musts" and the "what would happen if" flood your thinking, like an invisible force defining your life and your wants.
- You do not sleep well because you are reliving your thoughts and worrying keeps you awake all night.
- You feel bad and blame yourself for all your imperfections.
- Sometimes you drink too much to calm down from the many thoughts.
- You are not honest with yourself because you are busy with what they want, what they need, and what others think.
Understand why you think too much
There are so many reasons why some people think too much and others let life go. The roots of hyper analysis may come from childhood experiences and the relationship with your caregivers.
When we reach the level of development where our own will and our autonomy develop
(preschool age), the way they treat us can determine our self-confidence and our abilities. If a parent mistreated you and did not let you try new things or have your thoughts, you may have begun to doubt your way of thinking. If a parent constantly criticized you and made you feel inadequate in whatever you did, you may have begun to doubt your abilities. Excessive thinking keeps you trapped without taking action.
As a child, you may not have been able to establish your own identity. Maybe you had a second thought about what your parents want, you wanted to avoid punishment or get their attention. In time, you lost touch with what you wanted, needed, and thought about. And you may also be afraid of shame or humiliation when you do something public that others would criticize. This condition can lead to paralysis, doubts, and fear of acting. Ways to deal with excessive thinking
If you want to control excessive thinking, there are some effective ways to help you:
Get out of your mind
This is the number one antidote to excessive thinking. Whatever it takes to get out of your head, do it. This can be intense exercise, a walk in the park, or an activity that does not require so much thought. You may want to cook, paint, make crafts, make puzzles, whatever it is that relaxes you.
Feel your senses
Find ways to tune in to your senses, see beautiful things, listen to your favorite music, light scented candles, cook your favorite food for yourself, or take a hot bath. Take care of your body and give your mind time to rest.
Consciousness
Consciousness techniques can help you shape your thoughts. They can help you think more calmly and let your thoughts pass through your mind like clouds in the clear sky. Consciousness can also help you be present in the present and what is happening right now, instead of constantly thinking about the future.
Limit the time you think
You don't have to stop thinking. But instead of letting your thoughts flood your day, set a specific time to think and reason.
Record your thoughts
Instead of having thoughts in your mind, you can write them down in a diary or have a vase of thoughts that you can put in each of your thoughts. That way, you don't have to keep them.
Trust your instincts
All these years you have been thinking twice and you are constantly thinking and analyzing everything, maybe you have drowned out your inner voice. You may not know how it is. Trusting your instincts takes time, patience, turning to your true feelings and this is a step to stop over-analyzing everything

Talk to a psychotherapist
If excessive thoughts flood your life and you feel that a vicious cycle of depression or anxiety is constantly recurring because of your thoughts, then talk to a psychotherapist to help you find meaning in your life. Psychotherapy will help you find your identity and build a strong foundation to live in the now and not worry about the future.
