ہم جو خود کو بہت اہم سمجھ بیٹھے ہیں

یہ صدیوں سے دل میں لیے وہم بیٹھے ہیں

کہیں سے جو آتی ہے محبت کی مدھم روشنی سی

اور ان کے خلوص میں ہوتی ہے جو نمی سی

انہیں بھی ہوگی ہے ہم سے محبت 

یہ الہام اپنے سینے میں کب سے لیے بیٹھے ہیں

جب کوئی ناگواری سی گزرتی ہے تیرے لہجے میں

ہم تو اپنی ہی نظروں میں مجرم بنے بیٹھے ہیں

وہ جو رکھ دیں گے ہماری چوکھٹ پے قدم

ہم ان کو سنبھالیں  گے یہ خود کو سنبھالیں گے

یہ ڈر کب سے ہم دل میں چھپائے بیٹھے ہیں
